Brian McMahon
In 1998 Brian McMahon was in a high pressure job, working 70+ hours a week. Deciding that life was more than antacids and aspirin, he turned East for alternatives. A friend introduced him to meditation and yoga. Since that day in 1998, Brian has been on a journey. He started with Hatha yoga and after about a year, began to practice Kundalini yoga. Both forms were a complement to his early study of mediation. Over the past years Brian has had the opportunity to teach meditation as many people look for ways to calm their mind and clarify their thinking.
In 2002 Brian began to practice Ashtanga yoga. He has found an increased intensity in his practice and Ashtanga has allowed him to improve his flexibility. And flexibility is key as he is a life-long runner. Having run multiple marathons and countless other races, Brian uses yoga as a form of cross-training in his daily life. So, a day seldom goes by that he is not on the mat patiently working on increasing his flexibility.
Besides the physical benefits, Brian has found that the breathing and flow of Ashtanga has complemented his meditation practice.
Over the past year, he has been receiving instructor training at Be Fit. He will soon be leading his own Beginning Yoga class.
